'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith resumes clash with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he remembers the thrilling closing stages of his team's epic comeback win against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a spectator's eyewear amid the on-field celebration.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a speculative shot from 25 yards, and his teammate quickly hammered in the loose ball before sprinting toward the home end to revel in the moment, with supporters swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The victory capped an unbelievable turnaround given Swansea had been behind 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. During the euphoria, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and Josh Key and I were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

That win secured a fourth-round game at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. Galbraith had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in remarkable manner, with the attacker's long-range effort from about way out going in via the crossbar and the City goalkeeper. It seems unfair that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for taking the effort on from that far out," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before shifting to right flank after the team changed formation. That meant facing off against City's winger, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the attacker was among the opposition who praised the way his former team approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the simple things and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they always find their target and they are adept at control and slow down a game. You can feel you're holding your own and then abruptly they will just fizz a pass through a line without you even seeing. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It demands a strong mentality and focus just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

The club pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across a couple of years at Leyton Orient and has rapidly achieved similar status in his new home. At the London club he joined forces once more with the coach, who four years ago gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in professional games on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a spell at fourth-tier Salford City, before he departed Old Trafford.

Learning Curve

"I was perhaps a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say youth team games is very different. Sometimes it feels like the ball is moved without serious challenge. You see few physical contests. Once you start playing professional matches you have to learn quickly."

International Recognition

He has shown that development for his team and nation, excelling for his national side, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including both legs games against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, gave him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he manipulates the ball and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Starting Out

This represents quite the ride for the player from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his parent, Stuart, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Old Trafford Memory

His sole appearance for the Red Devils came in Central Asia in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was shut owing to the weather of bitter cold. "This represented a extended travel and it was freezing," he comments, chuckling. "The preceding week, several youth players and I worked out jointly, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "This turned out quite easy, because I got to the stage where I understood I wouldn't break through at the top level. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I felt I required a fresh start, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily progressing again."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has an appointment at 5pm: a learner's exam, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed team minibus, a team vehicle driven by academy staff, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's enjoyable to interact with the lads but I'm aiming to be the following person to stop using the bus and on the road. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would blend in with followers on London's Central line after starting his journey at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
