Authorities stated they were notified by a resident who discovered a vehicle in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.

Police report they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The substance had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they added.

Law enforcement then located many other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Officials say preliminary tests indicate the substance was probably blood from a person.

"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in relation with the event," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the public for tips.

An important political figure stated the vandalism made him speechless and needed to be addressed rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman targeting individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
